SUTTON - More than $27,000 was raised at the fifth annual Karyn Polito Golf Tournament at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton on Aug. 14.
At the event, checks for $7,500 were presented to Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services and the Westborough Food Pantry. The remaining contributions are still being processed and will eventually be divided between the two charities.
To date, more than $100,000 has been raised at the tournaments.
"I am so pleased with the success of the tournament over the past five
years," said tournament sponsor state Rep. Karyn Polito (R-Shrewsbury).
"It is great that we have been able to distribute over $100,000 to these
two great local charities."
Corporate Sponsors included: Ellsmere Investment Company, Carlin Charron & Rosen LLP, TD Bank North, Westborough Bank, EL Harvey & Sons, Dunkin' Do-nuts, Brendon Properties, Sunshine Sign Company, Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of New England, National Grid and Worcester County Sheriff Guy Glodis.
Major Sponsors were: Central One Federal Credit Union, Wheelabrator of Millbury, Polito Development Corp., J.A. Polito & Sons and Peterson Oil.
"I want to thank the participants and the major and corporate sponsors
as well as Ted and Audrey Mingolla, and the Golf Committee, who worked hard
throughout the year to plan a fun and successful day," Polito said.
