Rep. Karyn E. Polito, R-Shrewsbury, recently hosted the third annual Karyn
Polito Charity Golf Tournament at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton. The
Charity Tournament benefited two local charities: Shrewsbury Youth and Family
Services and the Westborough Food Pantry.
"In these difficult economic times, we need these organizations more than
ever to help people - our neighbors - to lead healthy, safe and productive lives,"
Polito said. "With the help and generosity of many residents and local
businesses, we were able to again contribute a healthy sum."
After all expenses, $15,000 will be donated to Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services
and the Westborough Food Pantry.
Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services is Shrewsbury's only private non-profit
human service agency, formed to address the high rate of juvenile delinquency
among Shrewsbury youth. The Westborough Food Pantry provides food for over 50
families in Westborough, operating with the help of 45 volunteers who assist
in collecting food donations from throughout Westborough. To date, over $45,000
has been donated to these charities.
Major sponsors, $3,000 each, included: Central One Federal Credit Union, Dunkin
Donuts - Shrewsbury, E.L. Harvey & Sons, Polito Development, and Wheelabrator
Technologies, Inc. Corporate Sponsors, $1,000, include: Bank North - Massachusetts,
J.A. Polito & Sons, Inc., Paul Mitchell Hain Lines, Ragsdale Superstores,
